Diamond ring stolen in jewelry store theft

DURHAM -- Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man believed responsible for a jewelry store robbery in Pickering over the weekend. The man, dressed in a suit and tie and wearing a long black trench coat, grabbed a diamond ring from the Peoples Jewellers store at the Pickering Town Centre on Saturday evening shortly before 8 p.m. Police say the man was engaged in a conversation with a sales associate when he stole the ring and ran from the store. The stolen ring is made of yellow gold and has a full karat diamond marquis that is round on the sides and has a two-piece fitted-in band. Police are looking for a white man, 30 to 35-years-old, with short light brown hair and grey eyes. He was unshaven at the time of the theft.
